Bardstown Police arrest second suspect in connection with 2016 Maple Hill murder

Monday, Aug. 20, 2019 — The Bardstown Police Department has made a second arrest in connection with the investigation of the 2016 murder of a Bardstown man at an apartment in the Maple Hill neighborhood.
On Monday, police arrested Evan James Lyons, 25, of Bardstown, on charges of conspiracy to murder in connection with the 2016 murder of Michael Wayne Unseld. According to the Nelson County Jail records, Lyons was booked into the jail about about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Michael Wayne Unseld died from gunshot wounds he received just before midnight on Friday, June 3, 2016, in a second-floor apartment over the former Broken Tee Night Club at 707 West Stephen Foster Ave. He later died at Flaget Memorial Hospital.
At the time of his arrest, Lyons was also charged with a probation violation, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia when he was found with meth and related paraphernalia during the service of a felony probation violation warrant on Monday.
Robert Zachary Tate, 26, of Bardstown, was arrested last Friday by Bardstown Police and was the first suspect charged with Unseld’s murder.
