STAFF REPORT
Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, 9:57 a.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested early Friday morning for falsely reporting to police that he was robbed while he was at the Park and Ride lot at KY 245 and Templin Avenue.
Police say Brian D. Case, 34, told them he was turning onto Templin Avenue from KY 245 when the vehicle in front of him abruptly stopped. He told police a black male got out of the passenger side of the vehicle, walked back to Case’s vehicle and demanded his money. Case said he gave the man $160. The man returned to the vehicle, described as a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo or Impala, and allegedly left traveling north on KY 245. Case reported the incident at 5:30 Friday morning.
While investigating Case’s claim, officers escorted him to the Bardstown Police station where he was questioned further by officers. Case later admitted he had lost or spent the money and told officers he wanted to make up a story to tell his wife.
Case was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor. He was booked into the Nelson County Jail Friday just before 8 a.m.
Officer Patrick Stucker investigated the incident.
