Monday, June 20, 2016, 10:15 a.m. — A Bardstown is facing child pornography charges in the wake of a Kentucky State Police investigation.
Brenton Thomas Byrd, 36, was arrested Thursday by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, and charged with 20 counts of possession and 10 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Both charges are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison.
The investigation by KSP was triggered after its Electronic Crime Branch discovered Byrd allegedly sharing images of child sexual exploitation online that showed images of sexual acts involving children. A search warrant of Byrd’s home was conducted Thursday, June 16, 2016, leading to his subsequent arrest.
