Wednesday, July 4, 2012, 10:45 p.m. — The Kentucky State Police report that Dominic Allen, 24, of Bardstown, was killed early Wednesday morning in an accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Grayson County near the 116 mile marker.
The accident happened at 5:14 a.m. Wednesday when Allen slowed his westbound Ford Explorer to make a U-turn in order to reach friends who ran out of gas and were awaiting help in the eastbound lanes. Allen’s SUV was in the righthand lane as he slowed, and a tractor trailer in the parkway’s left lane was passing Allen turned into the path of the larger vehicle and was struck. Traffic was closed in both directions of the parkway while the accident was investigated. The roadway was opened to traffic by 11 a.m.
