Friday, June 20, 2014, 1:45 p.m. — A Bardstown man pleaded guilty to drug-related charges Thursday in Nelson Circuit Court. Dennis H. Borders, 52, entered guilty pleas to charges of growing and possessing marijuana, possession of hydrocodone pills, a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Prosecutors are recommending 3 years in prison on the cultivating marijuana charge, 12 months in jail for the possession of hydrocodone pills and drug paraphernalia charges, and 45 days in jail for the possession of marijuana charge, with all sentences served concurrently. The Commonwealth’s Attorney has recommended probation. The final sentencing is set for Aug. 7.
Borders was indicted Feb. 19, 2014, by a Nelson County grand jury following his arrest on Nov. 1, 2013. The cultivating marijuana charge is a Class D felony, punishable by 1-5 years in prison, while the other charges are Class A misdemeanors punishable by up to 12 months in jail.
