Saturday, July 23, 2016, 5:50 p.m. — The bodies of a Bardstown man and his son, missing nearly two years in Oregon, were found Thursday in Mount Hood National Forest. Investigators at the scene told Portland’s KXL 101 FM News that the deaths appeared to be a murder-suicide.
The bodies of the missing men were located off Dog River Trial by U.S. Forest Service workers who were conducting surveys of the area. Their bodies were officially identified Friday.
John Wood and his son, Jason Wood, have been missing since September 2014 when their car, a 2012 silver Kia Rio, was found abandoned along a highway near the Dog River Trial trailhead in Oregon’s Hood River County. Oregon State Police said at the time that the car had a significant amount of equipment still in the car. State police searches of the area were unable to locate the missing men.
At the time they went missing, the men’s relatives told investigators they hadn’t seen the men since mid-August.
