Charles A. Mackin, 82, Cox’s Creek

Charles A. Mackin, 82, of Cox’s Creek, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his home. He was born July 30, 1929, in Samuels. He was retired from Heaven Hill Distillery and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Pearl Mackin; four brothers, James Mackin, Leo Mackin, Joseph Mackin, and Richard Mackin; and four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Mackin, Alice Cecil, Sister Grace Mackin, and Aline DeMar.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley C. Mackin of Cox’s Creek; four daughters, Lorie Grigsby of Phoenix, Ariz.,; Angela Mackin of Bardstown, Alicia Sapp of Campbellsville, and Beth Cook of Dandridge, Tenn.; four sons, Michael Mackin and Andrew Mackin, both of Cox’s Creek; Keith Mackin of Bardstown; and Matt Mackin of Bloomfield; two brothers, Francis “Happy” Mackin and Bill Mackin both of Samuels; one sister, Pat Mattingly of Louisville; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. Gregory Catholic Church with burial in the St. Gregory Cemetery. Rev. Paul Eve will officiate.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, and 8-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown. A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Monday.
