Charles William “Charlie” O’Bryan, 87, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Windsor Gardens. He was born
Nov. 28, 1925, in Nelson County. He retired from Chevron, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Culver O’Bryan; his parents, Albern and Gertrude O’Bryan; one sister, Lillian Thornsberry; and four brothers, T.J. O’Bryan, Robert O’Bryan, Frank O’Bryan, and Leo O’Bryan.
He is survived by his sister, Louise O’Bryan Greenwell and her husband James, both of Glendale; two brothers-in-law, Ray Culver of Bardstown, and Lowell Culver of Louisville; three sisters-in-law, Theresa O’Bryan of Louisville, Rita Wimpsett and Patty Masterson, both of New Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Rev. David Carr will officiate.
Visitation is 3–8 pm Monday, April 8, 2013, and 11 – 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
