Wednesday, April 9, 2014, 3:30 p.m. — The Stephen Foster Story was one of more than 400 non-profit organizations taking part today in Kentucky Gives Day.

Kentucky Gives Day is a 24-hour fundraising event that brings charities and Kentuckians together through a single online site.

Billy Bass, the drama’s media & development coordinator, said today the local group raised $1,637 on Kentucky Gives Day last year. This year’s goal was $2,500. In an interview on WBRT’s Local Community News, Bass reported the drama has raised more than $3,000 by noon Wednesday. By 3 p.m., that total swelled to more than $5,200.

Kentucky Gives Day was created last year by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network as a day for nonprofits all around the state to join together for a day of fundraising and awareness.
