Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, 9 a.m.. — With just hours left before the deadline to file for office, there remain races that need additional candidates. Candidates who miss today’s 4 p.m. filing deadline will have the opportunity to run as a write-in candidate. That deadline is Oct. 26.


NEW HAVEN COMMISSIONER. Mike Morris filed Monday for one of the four seats on the New Haven City Commission, and is the fifth candidate. The other candidates so far include Chris Cecil, Don Cecil, Fred Dewitt and Jeff Rogers.
BLOOMFIELD CITY COUNCIL. Incumbent Walt Pozgay is the only candidate at press time who has filed for one of the four council seats.
FAIRFIELD CITY COMMISSION. Incumbent Commissioner Faye Clayton filed this morning for re-election, and is the only candidate seeking one of the commission’s four seats.
NELSON COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD. Incumbents Larry Pate (District 3) and Damon Jackey (District 5) filed for re-election some time back. With board member Adam Wheatley’s decision not to seek re-election in District 2, Diane Perry is the only candidate who has filed for the open seat.


Circuit Clerk Diane Thompson and Commonwealth’s Attorney Terry Geohegan are unopposed in the General Election.
