Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, 7 p.m. — A Bardstown man faces alcohol-related charges after a head-on crash Sunday night that involved three vehicles and left five people with injuries.


Nelson County EMS, Nelson County Fire & Rescue and police were dispatched at 8:54 p.m. for an injury accident with entrapment. Firefighters had to extricate Sanchez from his vehicle before he was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital and then on to University Hospital with multiple injuries.
The Dodge Nitro was operated by Tamara A. Wilson of Springfield. Wilson and his front seat passenger, Geraold Wilson, suffered multiple injuries in the crash. They were both first transported to Flaget and later transferred to University Hospital in Louisville. Two children in the Wilson vehicle, ages 6 and 4, were also injured. They were transported to Flaget and then transferred by medical helicopter to Kosair’s Childrens Hospital in Louisville.
Neither Waldschmidt or his passenger were injured in the crash.
Sanchez faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influences of intoxicants.
Deputy sheriff A. J. Lewis investigated the crash and assisted by a KSP Trooper.
