Friday, March 3, 2015, 12:30 p.m. — County roads in low-lying areas have flooded across the Nelson County due to the heavy rains overnight. The National Weather Service reports that 3 to 6 inches of rain fell across Central Kentucky.

The weather service predicts additional rain today may add up to 3/4 of an inch of rain, along with gusty winds up to 30 mph.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday morning that Bloomfield Road from the KY 55 “Y” to the Bloomfield city limits is closed due to water over the road. Three vehicles were stranded in the high water earlier Friday morning.

Water is also up on Old Bloomfield Road near Dugan Lane, the sheriff’s office reported.

Nelson County Schools will dismiss classes two hours early today due to the potential for water closing more county roads.

FLOOD WARNING.  A flood warning is in effect for the Rolling Fork River valley near Boston effective 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning through Tuesday morning, April 7.

The Rolling Fork River is expected to rise above flood stage of 35 feet by Saturday morning and crest near 42.5 feet Sunday morning. The river is expected to drop below flood stage by Monday.

The flooding will impact homes in low-lying areas in the Boston area.
