Ida Belle Hicks, 87, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Windsor Gardens Nursing Center in Bardstown. She was born December 24, 1923, in Nelson County. She was a retired teacher for the Nelson County School Board with 38 years of teaching from 1942-1980, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Bardstown Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Hicks.
She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Settles; a brother, Jim Hicks; two nieces, Renee Brown and Rebecca Hicks; three nephews, Jamie Hicks and Tim Hicks, all of Bardstown, and Billy Settles of Lexington; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Dylan Mays officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
