Joseph Edward Riggs, 73, of Springfield, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at his daughter’s home. He was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Loretto, and was a retired truck driver for Riggs Demolition.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Edward Riggs; his mother, Mary Louise Riggs; two brothers, John Edmund Riggs and James Phillip Riggs; and three sisters, Shirley Carey, Margaret Downs Carey, and Lula Mae Harper.
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Darrell) Sprowles of Shepherdsville, and Joy (Jeremy) Parsley of Cox’s Creek; one sister, Linda Thomas; one brother, Thomas Riggs; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.
Visitation is 3–8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County.
