Friday, May 25, 2012, 12:01 p.m. — Michael Edward Auberry, 57, was charged Wednesday night with attempted murder after police say he cut the throat of the woman with whom he was living.

The victim told police she was in bed when Auberry entered the bedroom and began shouting at her before pulling a white-handled knife and allegedly slashing her across the throat. Auberry allegedly threw the victim against a window before she fled the room and ran downstairs.
A witness who also lived in the home told police he heard the couple arguing and what sounded like someone being slammed against a wall. The witness also heard the victim say “Mike, you cut me,” and observed both run downstairs. The witness then dialed 911.
The police said Auberry was carrying two folding knives, one of which matched the description given by the victim. Police said Auberry also had dried blood on his right hand.
The victim was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital and was later flown to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment.
Auberry was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and request individuals with information about this case contact them at (502) 348-6811.
