Mary Catherine “Katie” Barnes, 77, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was the former Mary Catherine Harrell, a native of Nelson County, a retired employee at Inoac Packaging and a member of the First Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late John E. and Della Case Harrell, and was preceded in death by nine brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Chad Wright.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Smith of Bardstown, Sheila Cassell and her husband David, of Owensboro, Michelle Burkhead and her husband Robert of Leitchfield; a son, Shelby Barnes and her husband Connie of Bardstown; a sister, Lil Thompson and her husband Bill of Bloomfield; a brother, Carl Harrell of Bardstown; eight grandchildren, Blake Cassell, Ali Cassell and her husband Ron, Ethan Barnes, Jared Barnes, Adam Barnes, Katelyn Burkhead, Dylan Burkhead, Dustin Burkhead; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at First Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Lucas officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home, and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the First Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
