Mary Cora Boone Head, 93, of New Haven, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at 
Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born May 8, 1920, in Howardstown. She was the daughter of the late Emanual and Lucy Howard Boone. She was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. She was a member of the New Haven Homemakers for more than 50 years, the St. Catherine Bereavement Committee for more than 50 years, the Haven Hoppers and the St. Catherine Altar Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who deeply loved her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Cyril Benedict Head; one sister, Josephine O’Daniel; six brothers, Irvin Boone, Cyril Boone, Leon “Punch” Boone, Ignatius “Bud” Boone, Garland Boone and Ed Boone.
She is survived by five daughters, Sr. Barbara Jean Head OSU of Owensboro, Marty Spence of Prospect, Lucy (Jerry) Dickerson of LaGrange, Aline (Don) Greer of Fairfield, Ernie (Ralph) Stanley of New Haven; three sons, Fred (Jodi) Head of Wapella, Ill., Dennis (Carol) Head of Shepherdsville and Mark (Trish) Head of New Haven; two sisters, Aurelia Cecil of Howardstown and Susan Davis of Louisville; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her caregiver and wonderful friend, Pat Caine of Bardstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven. In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Catherine Academy, First Street, New Haven KY 40051.
