Michael “Mikey” Bret Young, 21, of Bardstown, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. He was born July 23, 1991, in Bardstown. He was an employee of Bluegrass Cooperage, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and an avid hunter, fisherman, four wheeling, and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his son, Peyton Michael Young; parents, Eric and Jennifer Riggs Young of Bardstown; one sister, Kelsey Young of Bardsotwn; his girlfriend, Angela Marie Vittitow of New Haven; maternal grandfather, Tommy Riggs of Boston; maternal grandmother, Carol Ann Head Riggs of Bardstown; paternal grandfather, Howard Ray Young Jr. of Navarre, Fla.; paternal grandmother, Lee Ann Johnston of Ashtabula, Ohio; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hopper will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, and 9–10:15 a.m. Thursday at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may go to a trust fund for his son, Peyton Michael Young.
