Nelson Circuit Court Indictments — Sept. 3, 2014

Editor’s Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 – The following people were indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014. They are scheduled for arraignment Thursday, Sept. 13, 2014, unless otherwise indicated.

14-CR-206.  Scotty Lee Johnson, 39, New Haven, manufacturing methamphetamine; possession of a firearm while committing an offense; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of drug paraphernalia; cultivating marijuana, fewer than 5 plants; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on May 16, 2014, Johnson allegedly was found in possession of a Mossberg & Sons .22 caliber rifle and other firearms while he manufactured methamphetamine, was cultivating marijuana and in possession of drug paraphernalia. Johnson’s prior felony convictions was the basis of the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-207. Timothy D. Lanham, 27, Lebanon, burglary, third-degree; theft by unlawful taking under $500.

According to the indictment on July 5, 2014, Lanham allegedly the Old Kentucky Home Motel with the intent of committing a crime and took items having a value of less than $500. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-208. Donna M. Johnson, 35, New Haven, possession of a forged instrument, second-degree; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on April 19, June 20 and July 12, Johnson allegedly possessed forged checks belonging to someone else in the amounts of $286.23, $163.23, $283, $253, and $253.14 and knowingly passed them at Town & Country Bank. Johnson’s prior felony convictions were the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-209. Stephen L. Jones, 39, Louisville, possession of a controlled substances, first-degree (heroin); tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia; reckless driving; failure to wear seatbelt; expired Kentucky registration plates; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 10, 2014, Jones allegedly was found in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia after operating a motor vehicle with expired registration plates in a reckless manner without a seatbelt. When he believed an official proceeding was pending, Jones allegedly threw a needle in the back of a van with the intent to hide it. The indictment cites Jones’ prior felony convictions as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-210. Michael Sheakley, 26, Cynthiana, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree (cocaine).

According to the indictment, on May 23, 2014, Sheakley allegedly was found in possession of cocaine. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-211. William R. Culver, 49, Bloomfield, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree, less than 4 grams cocaine.

According to the indictment, on Jan. 8, 2014, Culver allegedly sold cocaine to a confidential informant. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-212. John Nowell, 25, Bardstown, possession of controlled substances, first-degree (heroin); possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on July 4, 2014, Nowell allegedly was found in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus condition.

14-CR-213. William R. Culver, 49, Bloomfield, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree, 4 or fewer grams cocaine.

According to the indictment, on Nov. 26, 2013, Culver allegedly 4 or more grams cocaine to a confidential informant. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-214. Jordan K. Summers, 25, Bardstown, wanton endangerment, first-degree (2 counts); failure to notify address change to the Department of Transportation; careless driving; failure to use child restraint device in vehicle (2 counts); failure to ear seatbelt.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 2, 2014, Summers allegedly operated a motor vehicle carelessly, with indifference to human life while intoxicated, leading the injury of two juvenile passengers who were not wearing child restraints. Summers allegedly was not wearing a seatbelt. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-215. William R. Culver, 49, Bloomfield, trafficking in controlled substances, 4 or more grams cocaine.

According to the indictment, on Jan. 9, 2014, Culver allegedly sold cocaine in an amount that was more or equal to 4 grams to a confidential informant. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

14-CR-216. Michael T. Parrish, 42, Bardstown, flagrant non-support.

According to the indictment, from Oct. 27, 2010 through May 31, 2014, Parrish allegedly failed to pay support he knew he was ordered to pay, resulting in an arrearage of $41,054.62.

14-CR-217. William R. Culver, 49, Bloomfield, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree, less than 4 grams cocaine; possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on July 8, 2014, Culver allegedly sold anabolic steroids and less than 4 grams cocaine to a confidential informant while in possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.
