Aaron Ronell White, 95, of Bardstown, died Saturday, August 29, 2026. He was born in Big Ready located in Casey County.
He served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and four years service in the Army National Guard. On his return, he was employed at General Electric and retired after 24 years.
His entrepreneurial spirit and love of Bluegrass music led him to build White Acres Campground and start the Bardstown Bluegrass Festival.
He was a farmer and a licensed auctioneer. He served on the Democratic Executive Board. He was a member of Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a member of Bardstown First Christian Church (D.O.C.). He was a deacon of Boston Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Verdia Nash White; his father, Blossie White; two sisters, Loretta Dugan and Nellene Ratliff; and one brother, Barry White.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Doris Hudson White; children,
two daughters, Sherry (Jim) Perry of Franklin, Tenn., and Candace White of Bardstown;
one son, Allen (Liz) White of Bardstown; one sister, Brenda (Felix) Boone of Bardstown; three brothers, Rodney White of Boston, Larry (Carolyn) White of Sonora, and Danny (Jan) White of Cecilia; six grandchildren, Anne (Brian) Robertson of Tallahassee, Fla., Bryce (Megan) Perry of Marietta, Ga., Anne Linton, Whitney (Allen) White, Lacey (Justin) Dennis, and Janis (Jesse) Lyddane, all of Bardstown; 12 great-grandchildren, Emilie, Braden, Gabriel, Roman, Lottie, Amber, Lilly, Cambron, Collin, Cody, Colten, and Elijah; one great great-grandchild; and 11 nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at Barlow Funeral Home with full military honors at Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Loader and the Rev. Jim Summers officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, and 9-11 a.m. Sept. 3, 2026, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Boston Community Center, First Christian Church D.O.C., and/or the charity of donor’s choice.
