Ann Monin Shouse, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, at her home in Bardstown with her husband and family by her side. She was born Aug. 1, 1966. She was the daughter of Joseph Edwin “Sonny” Monin and Mary Roby Monin.

After graduating from Bethlehem High School in 1984, she attended Eastern Kentucky University and Duquesne University in Pittsburg, Penn. After working in the hotel and travel industry in Austin, Texas, she returned to Bardstown and worked as a travel agent for Galaxy Travel for five years and then with AAA in Elizabethtown until she retired in 2022. After a break in her retirement, she worked at the Willett Distillery in Bardstown, greeting guests in the gift shop and as a facility tour guide.
She met the love of her life, Tommy Holmes Shouse while they were both students at Eastern Kentucky University. They were married Oct. 12, 1990, and recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. They greatly enjoyed traveling and she often commented, “We have been to 48 states and even more countries around the world!”
After they both retired, the couple, along with her mother, enjoyed the recent years being “Snowbirds” on the beach in the warm and sunny state of Florida during the winter.
She was sweet and kind to all who knew and met her. She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. In addition to traveling, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping at unique stores, decorating her home, dining out with Tommy, the warm sunshine, and the Kentucky Wildcats!
She was a Christian by faith. She was a member of the Basilica of Saint Joseph Proto-Cathedral Catholic Church in Bardstown, where she was baptized as a young child. In the summer of 2024, she and her husband were re-baptized by the Rev. Greg Knapper, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Taylorsville. She had an unbelievable faith and read her Bible daily.
She fought an incredible battle with her health for more than three years with God’s grace and her husband Tommy and family by her side. She will be dearly missed and in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sonny Monin; two brothers, Joseph Edwin “Joey” Monin, Jr. and John Scott Monin; and one nephew, Tyler Jordan Monin.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Shouse; her mother, Mary Monin; one brother, Kerry Monin (Melinda) of Bardstown; one sister-in-law Jane Shelburne (David Allen) of Taylorsville;
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral was Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown, with the Rev. Greg Knapper officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the bereavement committee at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
