Barbara Jean Helm Underwood, age 91, of Louisville, passed away Friday Aug. 21, at Baptist East Hospital with her family by her side.
She was a member of Lyons Missionary Baptist Church of Louisville, she was the last surviving child of five. She was the best person, kind and loving. She owned and operated a Kennel, and she also worked in Direct sales.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Underwood, one son, Donald Underwood, and one daughter, Carleen Underwood, two brothers, Robert “Bob” Helm and Russell Helm, two sisters, Dora Helm Cruse, and Monterey Helms Olds.
She is survived by one daughter, Suzette Underwood Gregory of Louisville, two grandchildren, Jeremy Gregory and Alishia Gregory, one great grand-daughter, Carlene Gregory, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday Aug. 28, 2026 at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, Hodgenville Chapel at 3 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the DeSpain Cemetery.
Visitation for Barbara will be Friday Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of William R. Rust Funeral Home.
