
Daniel M. Osburn, 74, of Birmingham, Ala., died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Indianapolis. He was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis and a 1969 graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IUPUI. He was equally proud of becoming a Masters Certified Electrician in 1967. He spent 20 years working for International Harvester in Indianapolis and Memphis, and 24 years with Buckman Laboratories in Memphis. For 24 years he led a Buckman Laboratories corporate team at the Memphis in May barbeque competition. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and loved to play golf and fish.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Barbara Connell Turner-Osburn; one daughter, Margaret Osburn; his parents, Joseph and Dorthey Osburn; one sister, Dorothy Stella Osburn; and one brother, Bernard Claude Osburn.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Love-Osburn of Birmingham; his first wife, Kathleen Johnston; one daughter, Danielle Osburn (Brian) Fulciniti of Indianapolis; three sons, James R. Turner Jr. of Louisville, Jeffrey (Bobbi) Turner of Tampa and Heath (Jennifer) Osburn of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Mary Cecelia Grammell, Camille Rochelle Welliver and Margaret Elizabeth Miller; eight brothers, Joseph Anthony Osburn, Michael Francis Osburn, Timothy Lee Osburn, Steven Paul Osburn, Christopher Allen Osburn, Mark Gregory Osburn, Patrick Aloysious Osburn and Kevin John Osburn; 10 grandchildren, Heather Campbell, Morgan Osburn, Hayden Osburn, Courtney Turner, James Turner III, Breanna Turner, Brennan Turner, Bailey Turner, Becca Turner, and Brian Fulciniti, Jr.; and one great-grandchild, Brendan Campbell.
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, and 9-10:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The family has asked memorial gifts in his honor be made to Cathedral High School in Indianapolis.
