David Franklin Moore, age 70, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky journeyed from life to eternal life on Aug. 15, 2026. His spirit has flown.

DAVID F. MOORE
David, Dave, Davo, dad, brother, uncle, son, grandpa went by many names in life; some names that shouldn’t be mentioned in print. David wants none of his loved ones to grieve upon his death; he wants us to party; he wants us to joke, eat, drink, be merry or raise Hell just as long as we have a good time! David left us with a tough order to fill. David never failed to tell his family and friends he loved them at each parting and end of each phone call.
David literally bounced into Earthly life on September 20th, 1955, only son of Julianne (Stamper) and Charles Moore. David lived his life fast and hard. All his life David enjoyed collecting unusual items, some not suitable to print. During childhood his little legs ran non-stop and to really excite his mother one day he bounced down an entire flight of stairs with her chasing after him. He enjoyed racing his slot cars as a child; he is Baptist in his faith and taught Bible study in his youth. He was a noise maker and enjoyed playing drums and did so with the band at Butler High School. As a young adult he enjoyed utilizing his carpentry skills. He was a lifetime fisherman and loved Chevrolet pickup trucks. The fishing trips to Florida and North Carolina were some of the happiest days of his life. David’s greatest joy though was partying and cooking out with friends and family.
David was preceded in death by his father, Charles Moore, his dear friend, Bob Barrett, Senior; his beloved cousin and neighbor, Jennifer Stone. Oh, what a party in Heaven!
Left to celebrate and mourn David’s journey from this life are his mother, Julianne Moore; his “big” sister, Carol Moore and “little sister,” Darlene Ramey (Rick). Rick Ramey, David’s brother-in-law, and David decided to block traffic on Hwy 44 in Shepherdsville by getting into a huge fight. We had to send every man in the house to go separate the two, but brothers will be brothers. So, upon David’s death, Rick showed David brotherly love by going into David’s home to check his body sparing David’s sister from the horrible moment. Rick and David were brothers by love!
David is also survived by two daughters, Lisa P’Pool (Daren) and Betty (Betsy) Gilbert; grandchildren, Ava P’Pool, Makayla Taylor, Elijah (Heavenly) Gilbert, and Ian Gilbert. David is survived by great-grandchildren Renee’ whom he so adored, Dewayne Jr. and Jedidiah. One special niece, Holly Hebel (Nathan) along with their children Hunter and Natalee. David is also survived by Cody Stamper, cousin who was like a younger brother to David. David’s family is most appreciative to Cody for being such a faithful loved one David and always checking on him during his many medical issues and notifying David’s sis, Carol.
He is survived by special friend and brother, Mike Farmer and friend and brother, Butch Brice. They never parted without saying “I love you brother.”
David’s celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 21st, 2026 at Schmid Funeral Home in Mt. Washington, Kentucky with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park, Louisville.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 20th from 1:00 to 7 p.m. and also from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday.
A party as David requested will be held on September 20th at his “big” sister’s home
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of anything; a card, a joke or just being there for David’s family. David always was a giver with a heart of gold.
