Doris Allen, 89, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. She was born Sept. 27, 1937, in Nelson County. She enjoyed going to the gym, and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Allen Sr.; one son, Eddie Allen; her parents, Joseph and Mildred Livers; five sisters, Mary Jo Livers Singer, Anne Livers Lawrence, Norma Sutherland Albert, Carolyn Sutherland Mattingly, and Joan Crosthwait; and three brothers, Fred Livers, Billy Livers and Bill Sutherland.
She is survived by one son, John (Cindy) Allen Jr.; six sisters, Rosemary Sutherland, Myrna Sutherland Gilkey, Dorothy Livers Durning, Paulette Livers, Kathy Daley and and Lorri Livers Houck; one brother, Michael Livers; three grandchildren, Shelby (Brendon) Allen, Evan Cass Allen, and Jack Szabo; siblings; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Mill Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, and 9-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
