Obituary: Doris Ann Spencer, 78, Bardstown

Doris Ann Spencer, 78, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at her home. She was born Aug. 16, 1938, in Garden City, Mich., to the late Merele Renard and Maryetta Fern Mefford Bliven. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Preston Spencer; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Bowling; one stepson, Charles Granis Spencer; and three grandsons, Michael Scott Spencer, Darrick Lee Spencer and Michael Bernard Spencer.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynda (Tommy) Beam of Bardstown, Bonnie (Ken) Burnett of Louisville; three stepdaughters, Brenda Kay Spencer of Arkansas; Mary Ruth Argue and Anna Lee Borders, both of Michigan; one stepson, Benard Eugene Spencer of Lexington; four brothers, Robert (Judy) Bliven and William Bliven, both of Alabama, Phillip (Shirley) Bliven and Richard (Peggy) Bliven, both of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and a host great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, noon-8 p.m. Sunday, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
