Dr. Robert Lee McClellan, 88, formerly of Bardstown, passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2026, at Lexington Country Place in Lexington, He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Lester L. and Helen Baird McClellan. Dr. McClellan had an optometric practice in Nelson County for 50 years. He enjoyed making glass art, jewelry, and loved golfing. Dr. McClellan was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Versailles, Dr. McClellan was a United States Army Veteran. Dr. McClellan was also a member of Kiwanis Club, Kentucky Optometric Association, and Knights of Columbus in Versailles, council 13917. Dr. McClellan was named Bardstown Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Man of The Year.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen McClellan.
Dr. McClellan is survived by his wife, Barbara Bellinger McClellan, his daughter, Joanie (Terry) Brady of Springfield, TN, his sons, Robbie (Annie) McClellan of Junction City, , and Lee (Stacey) McClellan of Frankfort, , his step-daughter, Melissa (Don) Rosenwinkel of Versailles, his step-sons, Kevin (Dawn) Bellinger of Davidson, NC, and Nathan (Sandra) Bellinger of Louisville, his grandchildren, Dillon (Sarah) Brady, Sarah Matney, Ellie (Cam) Davis, Bobby (Madisyn) McClellan, and Sully McClellan, 11 step-grandchildren also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. Robert Lee McClellan will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., from The Basilica of Saint Joseph Proto-Cathedral, Father Jim Graf, will celebrate and Father Chris Clay will concelebrate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the church.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
