Edna Mae Wimsett Young, 89, of Bardstown, died Friday, May 25, 2018, at Colonial Health and Rehab. She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Bardstown. She was retired as a charge aide for Colonial Health and Rehab. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Young; one son, Gregory Allen Young;
three sisters, Margaret Wimsett, Amie Mattingly, Lucille Cundiff; two brothers, Joe Wimsett, Edward Wimsett; and her parents, Will and Julia Wimsett.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Rose (Ronny) Ransdell of Boston; one son, James Ronald Young of Louisville; one sister, Betty Ray Allen of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Joshua (Kariane) Ransdell, Daniel (Kelly) Ransdell, Davis (Shavon) Ransdell, Gabe Ransdell; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018, and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
