Obituary: Elmer R. ‘Jake’ Parrott, 91, Bardstown

Elmer R. “Jake” Parrott, 91, of Bardstown, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at his home. He was born April 18, 1924, to the late Edgar and Lillie Weathers Parrott. He was a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of Barton Brands LTD., a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of Shepherdsville VFW Post 5710. He was a member of the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Greenwell Parrott.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy Hardin of Bardstown and Connie Clark of Louisville; one son, Kevin Parrott of Bardstown; his twin sister, Zelma “Toolie” Cecil of Bardstown; one brother, John N. Parrott of Bardstown; one sister-in-law, Anna Lee Greenwell of Bardstown; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Chesser officiating. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
