Emaline Back Petit, 72, of Leitchfield, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at her daughter’s home in 
Versailles, Ind. She was born Dec. 5, 1942 in New Haven and was the daughter of the late Samuel D. and Vada Marshall Back. She was a member of the Little Mission Baptist Church in Icetown. She retired from Walmart in Leitchfield after 15 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. “Jim” Petit; three sisters, Opal Burton, Oreva Douglas and Ruth Ambrose; three brothers, Odell Back Orville Back and Akalease John Back; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Jo Estill.
She is survived by four daughters, Roberta Peterson of Versailles, Ind.; Opal Stiltz of Easton, Ill., and Sharon Griggs and Tammy Montross, both of Leitchfield; one sisters, Lola Culver of Icetown; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Warren Traylor officiating. Burial is in the Marshall Family Cemetery in New Haven.
Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at the funeral home.
The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
