Obituary: Emmett Keith Baker, 57, Bardstown

Emmett Keith Baker, 57, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born Nov. 20, 1961, in Evansville, Ind., to the late Thelma Louise Fleming Baker. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Upton. He loved sports, his nieces, nephews and all his family.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, Dana and Hubert Stewart; one nephew, Dominic Allen; and one niece, Tiayana Allen.

He is survived by two sisters, April Carter of Nashville and Sheila Louise (Timothy) Cook of Cadiz; three 3 brothers, David (Emma) Jordan of San Antonio, Texas, Timothy Compton of Louisville, and Ernest Cornell (Patricia) Baker of Bardstown; one uncle, Ernest Cornell Baker of Cadiz; two nephews, Ernest Cornell (Megan) Baker Jr. and Michael Baker, both of Bardstown; and a host of other nieces and nephews, little ones and big ones.

The family would like to thank Jennifer, Jean, Jennifer and the V.N.A. staff and the Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Fire Department for their support and care.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019, at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, 219 E. Brashear Ave., Bardstown, with the Rev. Roscoe Linton and Elder David Jordan officiating.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019, at the church.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the funeral home for funeral expenses.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
