Ethel Patricia “Patsy” Girdley Smith, 74, of Bardstown, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026 at Baptist Health Louisville. She was born March 5, 1952 in Bardstown. She was a housewife, and loved being in her garden with the butterflies and hummingbirds. She greatly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, William Raymond and Mary Elsie Girdley; brothers, Billy and Michael Girdley; and granddaughter, Brittney Cox.
She is survived by a daughter, Elaine (Mikie Harris) Cox of Bardstown; a son, William Darrell (April) Smith of Lebanon; granddaughter, Bridget (Richie Allen) Cox; grandson, Brain Cox; two great-grandsons, Carson and Branston Allen; one great-granddaughter, Brianna Cox; three brothers, Jimmy Girdley of Nelsonville, Bernard Lee Girdley of Bardstown, and Charles “Boo’ Girdley of Bardstown; three sister, Margie Miles of New Haven, Diana Girdley of Bardstown, and Carol Mattingly of Cox’s Creek; and a favorite loving nephew, Joe Girdley.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 5 at Barlow Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joe Girdley, Mikie Harris, Richie Allen, Blake Williams, Kenny Girdley, and Tony Burkhead.
Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Donahue and Brian Cox.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
