Francis Leonard “Len” Hicks, 67, of Louisville, formerly of Bardstown, died Wednesday Sept. 16, 2026, at Baptist Health of Louisville. He was born Jan. 20, 1959, in Bardstown, to the late John Adolph and Betty Sue Hicks.
He was a Class of 1977 Bethlehem High School graduate as well as a University of Kentucky graduate. He was a retired independent program developer. After retirement, he became associated with the Knights of Columbus Council 15979, serviced Grand Knight trustee St. Mary Council, coordinated the special disciples of Jesus receptions of his love for those with special needs. He was a frequent co-host of Live Rosary Stream, and avid golfer and University of Kentucky fan. He lived to volunteer and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sue Ann Harmon of Shepherdsville and Dottie (Paul) Mahaffey of Tulsa, Okla.; and one brother, Larry Hicks of Bardstown.
He is survived by the love of his life and special friend, Tara Mattingly; three sisters, Janet Hicks of Bardstown, Mary Helen Bidwell and Jane Hicks, both of Louisville; two brothers, Dan Hicks of Frankfort and Michael (Tammy) Hicks of Bardstown; one sister-in-law, Ellen Hicks; one brother-in-law, Jerry Harmon; five nieces, Mary Hicks Redding, Peggy Bidwell Flur, Kim Hicks Conway, Lauren Bidwell, and Payton Holbert; and nine nephews, Frank Mahaffey, Jeff Harmon, Jason Harmon, Jim Hicks, David Hicks, Cliff Hicks, Andy Hicks, Doug Bidwell and Jonathan Hicks.
The Mass of Christian burial is 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Louisville with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bardstown with the Rev. Bill Hammer officiating.
Visitation is 1-2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at the church.
