
Fred Isaac Skinner, Sr., 97, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Bloomfield, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, in University City Forest Manor in St. Louis, Mo. He was a native of Bloomfield, born Oct. 31, 1918, to Benton and Gertrude Wells Skinner. He was a retired custodian and bus driver for the Nelson County Board of Education at Bloomfield High School, a member of the Bloomfield Second Baptist Church where he was a deacon and trustee, a member of the Bloomfield Cemetery Board, and a member of the Bloomfield City Council where he served two terms from 1978-1981.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Skinner (December 2009); and one son, Fred I. Skinner Jr.
He is survived by one daughter, Jean Rae (Joe) Rice of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren, David Berryman and Tiffany (Marcus) Wallace, both of St. Louis and Damien Skinner of Washington, DC; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at the Bloomfield Second Baptist Church, 145 Hill St., followed at noon by a home going service with the Rev. Joseph Marshall officiating. Burial is in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
