Gary Walker Thompson, 78, formerly of Taylorsville, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was born Sept. 7, 1947, in Spencer County to the late Jeff Wright and Elizabeth Lewis Thompson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He worked as a machinist at Henry Vogt for a number of years and loved anything pertaining to technology and computers. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Thompson.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Angela (Troy) Kyle and Melissa (Mark) Lamaster, both of Louisville; one sister, Cathy (Marty) John of Florida; two brothers, Jimmy (Edna Joyce) Thompson and Michael (Charlene) Thompson, both of Bloomfield; one sister-in-law, Roxann Thompson of Taylorsville; and six grandchildren.
His family respectfully chose cremation with no public services.
The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
