Herman Monroe “Joe” Young, 87, of Boston, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Dunavan Masonic Lodge and Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Ewing Young; one stepdaughter, April Annette Mattingly; and his parents, Daniel Isiah and Cora Lee Blackman Young.
Survivors include one stepson, Robert Lee Hutchinson; one grandson he raised, Robert Dale Hutchinson (Gayan); one sister, Wilma E. Woods; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at the Kappel Funeral Home in Boston with Chaplain Terry Troutman officiating. Burial is in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Kappel Funeral Home in Boston is in charge of the arrangements.
