Obituary: James Gary Ellery, 61, Springfield

James Gary Ellery, 61, of Springfield, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospice in Louisville.

He is survived by his wife, Tarana Fogle Ellery of Springfield; two daughters, Arie Dawson of Springfield and Tyara Newby (Jasmine Martin) of Louisville; two sons, Brandon Dawson of Lebanon and Stevan Newby of Springfield; two sisters, Janet Ellery of Orlando, Fla. and Gail (Charles) Bivens of Bardstown; one brother, Kevin (Tonia) Ellery of Indiana; and three grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial is in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, and 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, with a 7 p.m. Friday prayer service at the Hale-Poin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield.

The Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
