James Wayne “Toby” Thornsberry Sr., 68, of Bardstown, passed away July 28, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a retired mechanic for Bardstown Auto Wreckers and enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, and anything outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norvell and Mary Helen Culver Thornsberry; along with two brothers, Mark and Louis Thornsberry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Wheeler Thornsberry; three sons, James Wayne Jr., Rocky Dale (Melissa), and Jesse Derek Thornsberry; three brothers, Ricky, Randy, and Gary Thornsberry; four sisters, Diane Brown (Terry Nix), Cathy Marshall (Stephen), Vandra Reid (Phil), and Karen Carney (Terry); along with four grandchildren, Danny Breedin, Hannah Thornsberry, Morgan Thornsberry, and Preslee Thornsberry.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with cremation to follow. Friends may visit after 9 a.m. at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home.
