Obituary: Jeanne Franklin Montgomery, 82,

Jeanne Franklin Montgomery, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

She was the beloved daughter of Marie and Adolph Franklin. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and woman of faith.

She married the love of her life, Jerry Montgomery, June 19, 1965, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Their life together was built on love, family, faith, and countless memories.

She was a graduate of the University of Louisville, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She dedicated her life to teaching and spent many years as a teacher and reading specialist at Audubon Elementary School in Louisville. Her love of children and passion for helping them learn touched countless lives.

Her greatest joy was being a mother. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, Jana and Javan, and even homeschooled them, pouring her time, love, patience, and faith into their lives.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a true prayer warrior. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she spent countless hours praying for the people she loved. Her prayers, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

She loved to go places and make memories with her family. She cherished time together, exploring new places, traveling, and simply being with the people she loved.

She leaves behind her husband, Jerry Montgomery; two children, Jana and Javan; and two grandchildren, Conner Lites and Brandon Lites, who brought great joy and love to her life.

She will be remembered for her gentle heart, devotion to her family, love of children, strong faith, and the many lives she touched through teaching and prayer.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and resting in the arms of the Lord.

The graveside service was Friday, Aug. 29, 2026, at the Bardstown Cemetery.

Barlow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
