Obituary: Jerry Wayne Downs, 64, Bardstown

Jerry Wayne Downs, 64, of Bardstown, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at his residence. He was born April 30, 1953, in Louisville to William Jerry and Berniece Wells Downs. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion Post 121, a collector of coins, knives and a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his father William Jerry Downs.

He is survived by his mother, Berniece Wells Downs of Bardstown; two sisters, Rose Sallee Crump of Taylorsville and Barbara Ann “Barb” Hodge of Vandalia, Ohio; one brother, Curtis R. Downs of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road with a 3 p.m. prayer service followed by an American Legion service.

Interment will be private.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
