Joseph C. “J.C.” Young, 69, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 8:50 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at his home.
He was born in Lebanon on July 19, 1956, to the late James O’Lee and Mary Belle Cheatham Young.
He was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated lifelong farmer.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Nell Young and Gracie Roselee Hardin, and a brother, James Allen Young.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Mudd Young; a son, Joey Young (Jennia), and a daughter, Laura Barr (Chris), all of Springfield; three grandchildren, Gracie Barr, Parker Barr and Jasmine Young; and a sister, Claudia King (Dennis) of Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Carey & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Alan Holt officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, where the graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Pier Giorgio Dengler, O.P.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Bland, Kevin Mudd, Rodney Mudd, Troy Mudd, Michael Bland and Jared Mudd.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning at Carey & Son Funeral Home.
Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
