Obituary: Marlene Jeanette Stark, 89, Taylorsville

Mrs. Marlene Jeanette Stark, age 89, Taylorsville, previous resident of San Diego, CA for 48 years, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026 at Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. She was born July 15, 1937 in Quasqueton, Iowa to the late Wayne and Dorothy Kress Brown. Marlene was a retired food service worker, was a member of the Elkonettes of El Cajon Elks Lodge 1812 where she enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus, and was a member of the Spencer County Homemakers. She and Tom were avid campers and loved taking trips together, she was a wonderful baker, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas Eugene, a son, Stephen Eugene, and 3 siblings, Darlene, Don and Denny.

She is survived by her children, Yolanda Sue, Teresa Anne, Daniel Thomas (Jebb), her grandchildren, Kelli (Jesse), Ryan, Clayton (Sarah), Charolette (Carlos), her great grandchildren, Kyle, Chloe, Allyson, Caitlyn, Jack, Maci, Jaxon, Mia, Olivia, and Ethan, her great-great grandchild, Jayden, and her sister, Judy (Mike). Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Marlene’s family respectfully chose cremation.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
