Martha E. Bogard, age 85, from Deatsville in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky, met Jesus on Aug. 13, 2026. She passed away peacefully at her home in Bardstown Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Martha was born June 17, 1941 in Samuels, Kentucky to Clifford E. and Myrtle Cooper Weller Bogard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a baby brother, Clifford Junior, and by several aunts and uncles. She was proud to be a lifelong member of New Salem Baptist Church, and a follower of Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the WMU, and was also the church Sunday School secretary for many years.
Martha graduated in 1960 from Old Kentucky Home High School. She had a multitude of jobs throughout her life: Spending nearly half a century as Secretary at New Salem Baptist Church, watching children learn and grow up while working in the cafeteria at Cox’s Creek Elementary for over 20 years, and most recently representing her friends as President of the Residential Community for her nursing home.
Martha is survived and loved by many cousins, including her tireless and loving caregivers Della Mae Taylor and Sharon Cissell. She is also survived by many loving friends. Martha was quick with a hug and was always happy to have visitors. She proudly displayed school photos of “her babies” and supported them like they were her own by attending school programs and sporting events, and later sharing in weddings and celebrations as “her kiddos” grew up.
Visitation will be 3:00 – 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026 at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home located at 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, Bardstown, Kentucky. Additional visitation will be at New Salem Baptist Church, 2775 Deatsville Road, Cox’s Creek, Kentucky on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m..
Interment will be in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
