Obituary: Mary Elizabeth Sallee Lanham, 78, formerly of Bardstown

Mary Elizabeth Sallee Lanham, 78, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Bardstown, died at 11:10 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Washington funeral_candleCounty. She was born Jan. 28, 1937, to the late John and Eva Cornish Sallee. She was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church in Bardstown and a retired certified medical technician.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lou Lanham; one sister, Bonnie Varnell; and one brother, Tony Sallee.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Lanham; three daughters, Carol Mattingly and Bonnie Hamilton (Gary), both of Springfield and Kathy Hall (Everett) of Elizabethtown; two sons, Johnny Lanham (Angel) and Joe Lanham Jr. (Lynn), both of Bardstown; three brothers, Mark Sallee and Bill Sallee, both of Oklahoma and Ernest Sallee of Springfield; four sisters, Peggy Hood of Springfield, Annie Railey of Bardstown, Eva Marie Sallee of Lebanon and Ina Gribbins of Campbellsville; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Parkway Baptist Church with Dr. James Carroll, officiating. Burial is in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, at Carey & Son Funeral Home, 216 East Main St., Springfield and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be T.J. Lyvers, Hank Shelton, Josh Dewitt, John Jenkins, Thomas Young and Ben Johnson. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Justin Milburn.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
