Patrick “Pat” Scott Ballard, 52, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.


He was a devoted husband to his wife Katrina of 25 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, hard work, and countless memories. He was a loving father to his two children, Ethan and Aiden, who were among the greatest joys of his life.
He was a talented home builder and realtor. He took great pride in his work and in the homes and relationships he helped build throughout his life.
Outside of work, he found his greatest happiness in the simple things and enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, smoking meat for the family barbecues, and being around the farm.
Above all, he was a loving husband and family man. He will be remembered for his love of his family, his generosity, his strength, and his courageous spirit. His absence will leave an enormous space in the hearts of his wife, children, family and friends. He was deeply loved and he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Anthony Ballard; and one brother, Glen Ballard.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina Moran Ballard; two sons, Ethan Ballard and Aiden Ballard, both of Bardstown; his parents, Jody and Nora Marie Ballard of Bardstown; two sisters, Karen (Jody) Harmon and Donna (Robert) Smith, both of Bardstown; one brother, Wayne (Rhonda) Ballard of St. Francis; one sister-in-law, Carol Ballard of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. J. Randall Hubbard officiating. Burial is in St. Thomas Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, and 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a 5:30 p.m. Thursday prayer service.
Pallbearers will be Aiden Ballard, Jody Harmon, Peyton Harmon, David Edward Moran, Jimmie Dell Moran, and Raffo Wimsett III. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol Ballard, Clara Ballard, Kaitlyn Ballard, Patrick Ethan Ballard, Wayne Ballard, Karen Harmon, David Lee Moran and Donna Smith.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
