Obituary: Rena Mae Pollett Baird, 92, Taylorsville

Rena Mae Pollett Baird, 92, of Taylorsville, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2026 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. She was born June 28, 1934 in Spencer County to the late William Marion and Ruby Smith Pollett. Rena was a former secretary for the Spencer County Extension Agency and was a devoted farmer’s wife for over 70 years. Together, she and her husband dedicated their lives to their family farm, which was honored with the Farm Bureau Legacy Farm Award. She was a member of Waterford Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school, and also attended Fisherville Church of Christ. She was a member of the Waterford Homemakers and was honored to be named a Kentucky State Master Farm Homemaker. Rena loved to cook, sew and quilt, but above all, she cherished her role as Granny and treasured the time spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlyn Kelly Baird, and 5 siblings, William Pollett, Goldie Louise Goodman, Jessie Pollett, James Pollett and Edward Pollett.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Tim) Morrow of Taylorsville, her son, Bland (Sherry) Baird of Taylorsville, 5 grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel) Baird, Brayden (Katie) Morrow, Chandler Morrow, Rena Kelly (Dustin) liver, Jackson Baird, and 4 great grandchildren, Audrey Baird, Vivian Baird, Wallace Baird and Joanna Morrow.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Tim Morrow will officiate. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-8 p.m. and Saturday after 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
