Richard John Gardner, 87, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Cincinnati to the late Herbert J. and Leah Mae Foster Gardner. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Gardner and Debi Gardner Fischer, both of Cincinnati; and three sons, Rick Gardner, Greg Gardner and John Gardner, all of Cincinnati.
A graveside service is 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at the Lebanon National Cemetery with Navy military honors. There will be no public visitation.
Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
