Roy Herbert French, 90, of Raywick, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Taylor County to the late George Washington and Sara Emon Whitlock French. He was a carpenter and formerly worked in construction.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Madelene “Betty” Lamkin French (2015); one daughter, Lisa Botaz; four sisters, Mildred Wheatley, Opal Scott, Bertha French and Dorothy French; four brothers, Chester French, Walter French, Charlie French, and Bill French; and one granddaughter, Kayla Renee French.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Mattingly (Michael) of Raywick, Kathy Napier (Chris) of Brooks and Beverly Holton (Tony) of Vandalia, Mich.; two sons, Donald French (Retta) of Ligonier, Ind. and Doug French (Kim) of Taylorsville; one brother, Kenneth Hardin French of Louisville; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiating. Burial is in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Raywick.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
