Shirley Jean Richardson, 75, of Taylorsville, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. She was born July 10, 1942, in St. Paul, N.C., to the late Claude and Mary Elizabeth McDonald Sikes Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Tabernacle.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Thompson and Margie Hargis, and her brother, Claude Sikes Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Thomas Richardson; two daughters, Hazel (Ralph) Tindle of Shelbyville and Joyce (David) Bentley of Taylorsville; one son, Bobby (Annette) Richardson Jr. of Shelbyville; one sister, Dorothy (Bernard) Caprin of Fulton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Lisa (Brandon) Jesse, Chasidy (Glenn) Hawkins, Sandra (Bradley) Hardin, Steven (Brittney) Richardson, and Sarah (Lee) Murphy; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Bro. Joe Vires and Sister Mavis Bennett officiating. Burial is in the Big Spring Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to New Hope Tabernacle.
The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
