Sister Maureen “Reenie” Daugherty, SCN, 74, formerly Sister Patrick Daugherty, a native of Louisville, died at Nazareth Home in Louisville Friday, March 17, 2017, the feast of St. Patrick. She had been a professed SCN for 52 years.
She served in secondary education in Kentucky, Alabama and Maryland for 15 years. In Louisville she served in secondary education with Catholic Charities Inc. from 1980-82; as editor of SCNews from 1982-88; as staff member in the Sister Visitor Program from 1988-89; and as Technical Aide in the Radiology Dept. of Caritas Medical Center/SS Mary and Elizabeth Hospital from 1989-2009. In retirement she served in the Apostolate of Prayer and as a driver when needed.
She is survived by two sisters, Kyran Daugherty of Louisville and Anne D. Lutkus of Geneseo, N.Y.; one brother, Michael Daugherty MD of Lexington, and her religious community.
The Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017, at St. Vincent Church, Nazareth, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
Visitation is 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, and after 4:00 p.m. at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
